The government has again turned down calls for a West Clare primary school, to retain both of it's teachers.
Labasheeda National School is set to receive funding for only one teacher from September, because it's enrolment is falling below the required number of 20 pupils.

This limit will be met the following year, and in 2016, but the Department of Education has ruled that a second teacher won't be kept on for the intervening period.
A school appeal has been unsuccessful, and though the issue has been raised in the Dáil and now the Seanad, Junior Minister Dinny McGinley has said the decision remains in place.
