Lahinch Priest Speaks Of How Polish Man Was On “Holiday Of A Lifetime” Ahead Of Fatal Crash

A North Clare priest has spoken of how a Polish man killed in a car crash near Doolin was on "the holiday of a lifetime".

Lahinch-based Fr Henry Nevin was  at the scene of the accident at Doonagore Cross, in which the 35 year-old man lost his life yesterday evening.

He says the entire community is in shock following the crash and that thier thoughts and parayers are with the man's family.

Three others were injured in the collision; the driver of the car and another passenger who are being treated at Galway and Limerick Hospitals, though their injuries are not life threatening.

While, the motorcyclist, a man from the Doonbeg area, suffered serious injuries and is being treated at University Hospital Limerick.

Meanwhile, Gardaí have confirmed they're working with authorities in Poland to make contact with the family of the man who lost his life in yesterday's collision.

They're appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them on 065 707 2180, or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.

It's the first fatal collision on Clare roads in 2016 and comes ahead of one of the busiest Bank Holidays of the year.

Superintendent McGonnell is asking motorists to exercise extreme caution on our roads.
