Nearly a quarter of a million euro is set to be spent on replacing lead water mains in several estates in Ennis.
Last year it emerged the local supply in Marian Avenue, Connolly Villas and St. Michael’s Villas contained excessive amounts of lead, with reports of up to 10 times the acceptable level, due to antiquated pipes in older homes.

The Environment Minister has now allocated over 233 thousand euro to Clare County Council to carry out advanced works to replace the old piping system with over 500 metres of uPVC watermains set to be installed.
