A government TD has suggested re-naming Clare's international airport to reflect it's links with Limerick.
Limerick Fine Gael TD Patrick O'Donovan made the comments during a Dáil debate on the legislation to formally establish Shannon Airport on an independent footing.

Welcoming the bill, Deputy O'Donovan said Shannon is important for all of the MidWest, rather than just Clare, while he also outlined links between Limerick and the Airport.
However, he then went one step further, despite admitting it may not be the most popular suggestion.
