A Clare TD has accused Clare County Council of being dishonest regarding money spent on road works in the county this year.
Fine Gael’s Joe Carey says figures form the Transport Minister reveal the council has yet to spend 6.39 million euro on roadworks and could lose the remaining funds if they’re not used by the end of the year.
It’s the second time Deputy Carey has challenged Clare County Council on it’s road spending, though the local authority insisted last month that the Clarecastle TD was relaying on outdated figures and all available funds would be put to good use.
Deputy Carey says the latest information he’s received proves the county council has been dishonest, and he’s concerned that improvements to local primary and secondary roads may not be made in time
