Local authority plays down speculation on future social housing builds.

Ennis Town Council says it’s impossible to know at this stage whether or not new social housing will be provided in Clare’s County Town over the next 6 years.

The Mayor of Ennis Frankie Neylon has suggested that no money will be provided by government for social housing in the town, despite growing demands, with housing waiting lists rising by 35% in the last year to 906 in December.

But Ennis Town Clerk Eddie Power says housing allocations haven’t been made known for 2010 yet, so it’s too early to say what works will be carried out in the months and years ahead.
