Clare County Council’s plans to oppose the extension of Limerick City into Clare are expected to be made known today.
Local representatives have been finalising their submission to the local government review committee currently considering the local authority structure in Limerick City, including the possibility of boundary changes.
Councillors are still insisting they won’t give an inch of Clare to Limerick, while in areas like Parteen, Meelick, Shannon Banks and Clonlara, residents are vowing to fight any change of address, as part of a boundary opposition committee.
The Clare submission to the review group is likely to suggest changes within Limerick County and underdeveloped areas of the city itself, and Shannon Councillor Patricia McCarthy says the city council should concentrate on their own area first.
