It comes as the outgoing cabinet will meet this afternoon, for the first time since the election.

The meeting will include at least three ministers who lost their seats in the last election as under the constitution, the outgoing Taoiseach and government remain in place until a new one is elected by the Dáil.

Speculation is mounting as to who will form the next Government and Kilrush Fine Gael Gabriel Keating Councillor says he's confident Enda Kenny will make the correct decision for his party.

Meelick Fianna Fail Councillor Cathal Crowe says there will have to be a lot of compromise before any deal is done.
