The long campaign for a rail-stop in Crusheen has been dealt a blow.
The government says its focussing capital investment in the rail network on existing lines, in a bid to ensure their safety and efficiency.

It has also warned that, particularly in the short to medium term, Exchequer funds are unlikely to be made available to open new stations.
Campaigners have fought a long battle to secure a stop at Crusheen on the existing Ennis-Athenry rail line, and local activist Michael Doherty believes the Transport Minister needs to re-examine his brief.
