Longboat Quat Residents Assured “No Immediate Fear” Of Becoming Homeless

Residents at the Longboat Quay apartment building, which was built by a Clare developer, are being assured by the council that there's no 'immediate fear' of them becoming homeless.

It's after warnings that people may be evacuated from the building because of fire safety risks, with 4 million euro of improvements needed.

It was built by Gendsong, a company owned by developer and former County Councillor Bernard McNamara which has now gone into receivership.

Talks are continuing over who will pay the costs between the residents, Dublin City Council, the Dublin Docklands Development Authority and the receiver for the Lisdoonvarna developer.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Chris Andrews says the Chief Executive made the assurance to him in an email this morning and residents will be informed of this – He believes its good news for now.
