The Lough Derg RNLI crew have rescued a kayaker from the Nenagh River in Co. Tipperary, in what has been described as 'an extremely serious incident.'
Emergency services and Gardai were alerted that the man had fallen from his kayak and was being pushed down the fast-flowing river yesterday

They tried unsuccessfully to rescue him before the RNLI crew were able to do so.
Two volunteers took the man, who was semi-conscious, from the River and brought him to their base at Dromineer before he was transferred to hospital by the Shannon-based coast guard helicopter.
