It follows heavy downpours over the weekend where over twenty homes were flooded in Miltown Malbay, while parts of Cree, Doolin, Mullagh, Quilty, Liscannor and Kilkee were also affected.

Flood water has since receded but Gardaí are adivsing people to take extra precautions while out on county roads this morning.

West Clare Councillor Christy Curtin says communities pulled together to deal with flooding over the weekend.

Meanwhile, a number of roads have been closed in Clifden in Co Galway after heavy rain overnight.

Gardai say motorists should only travel in exceptional circumstances.

Diversions are in place in the Clifden and Cleggan areas of the county.
