Clare has experienced the biggest rise in heroin related prosecutions across the country over a five year period.

New figures contained in today’s Examiner show the number of cases before the courts here rose by 16 hundred percent, from 1 case in 2002 to 17 cases in 2007.
The statistics also show that the number of heroin cases being dealt with by drug task forces rose by 310 percent in the Mid West up from 20 to 82, during the same period.
