A Community Development Manager on the island of Inis Oírr says community concerns must take precedence when it comes to reopening the islands.
A recent poll on the island found 92 per cent of locals would prefer that tourism was halted until at least the end of summer, for fear of how quickly COVID-19 could spread there.
The main concerns are the small area of the islands and lack of medical facilities.
