Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have launched separate investigations into a fatal workplace accident in East Clare.
It’s understood a man was killed in the incident in Feakle overnight.

In the early hours of this morning, Gardaí responded to a callout in the Magherabawn area of Feakle, where a man in his early 70s had been involved in an incident involving a digger.
It’s understood he had been working in his yard at the time.
Gardaí and the local fire unit from Scarriff arrived there at around 2 o’clock this morning and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.
The Health and Safety Authority has carried out a preliminary inspection of the scene and has launched an investigation into the incident.
Gardaí are describing it as a tragic accident at this time.
