Man charged after Garda Chase in Ennis

One person has been charged with multiple counts of dangerous driving following a garda chase through Ennis

Another man was hospitalised in connection with the same incident near the town centre.

At around 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, two vehicles stopped abruptly on Bank Place and their occupants subsequently became embroiled in a violent row.

It’s understood that a number of weapons including a knife were brandished at one point.

However Gardaí quickly intervened to break up the row – but one of the vehicles then fled the scene.

The driver mounted a footpath, sped down Bindon Street and out onto the main Ennis to Lahinch road but was quickly apprehended by officers.

A 22 year old man was subsequently brought to Ennis Garda Station for questioning and charged with four counts of dangerous driving before being bailed to appear in court on September 4th.

Another person injured in the row on Bank Place – then presented himself at Ennis Hospital where he currently being treated.
