A 34 year old man has been convicted of killing his fiancée’s three and a half month old baby.
Philip Doyle of Tinakilly, Aughrim, Co. Wicklow has been found guilty by a jury of the manslaughter of Ross Murphy at 3 Creagh Demesne, Gorey, Co. Wexford on April 5th, 2005.

Philip Doyle who was originally charged with murder said the infant’s injuries arose when he fell on the wooden living room floor while holding the child.
However the 34 year old only told gardaí about this accident 3 weeks after the infant’s death at Crumlin hospital, and the State successfully, argued that his story didn’t stack up with the medical evidence.
