An Ennis man is in a critical condition in hospital following an alleged assault in the Hermitage area of the town.
The 52 year old man is understood to have been involved in an incident with another man outside his home last evening and Gardaí in Ennis are investigating.
This incident took place at around 6.45 last evening, when the 52 year old man – a married father who resides in the Hermitage area of Ennis – was involved in an alleged altercation with another local man.
During the course of the incident the 52 year old is understood to have fell to the pavement – hitting his head and causing serious injuries.
He was rushed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where he’s said to be in a critical condition.
Technical examinations have also been carried out at the scene in Hermitage, while Gardaí in Ennis have carried out interviews and house to house inquiries in the area though no arrests have been made.
