Gardai are investigating a fatal crash near Ruan which claimed the life of a young father of two.
This single vehicle collision happened on the Tourmore Road out of Ruan at approx 10.00pm.
It’s believed the 30 year old, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, lost control of his van which then hit a wall and overturned.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to The Mid Western Regional Hospital Limerick where a postmortum will take place later today.
The road remains closed west of Crusheen this morning while a technical examination takes place and it’s not expected to reopen to traffic until about midday.
Ruan councillor Joe Arkins says the victim who was living in Ruan with his partner and two young children, was well known and liked in the area and his tragic death is all the more painful for his family, just a week before christmas.
