A 26 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked in Ennis last night.
It happened at O Connell Square in the town just before midnight last night.
He suffered head injuries in the assault and was rushed to Limerick Regional Hospital, where his condition is being described this afternoon as critical.

Two men aged 22 and 29 are helping with gardai with enquiries.
The scene has been closed for a technical examination.
