A 31 year old man who hijacked a 4×4 at knifepoint in West Clare later crashing it in Ennis has been jailed for four years.
Patrick Byrnes of Knockalough, Kilmihil was also banned from driving for 12 years after pleading guilty at Ennis Circuit Court to several charges arising out of the incident on the 19th of May last.
The court heard that Byrnes was only out of jail one week after completing a six year jail term with remission for a serious assault, when the incident happened.
