Man Pleads Guilty To Animal Warden Assault

A man has pleaded guilty to what was described as an ‘unprovoked and frightening’ attack on Clare’s ISPCA Officer Frankie Coote.

Mr Coote required hospital treatment after he was attacked on the Western Relief Road section of the Ennis bypass two days before Christmas last year.

Francis Doherty of Bay One, Ballaghboy, Quin Road, Ennis, pleaded guilty to the assault, which Ennis District Court heard came after he had been wrongly told that Mr Coote had taken his pedigree dog

Mr Doherty has since apologised for his actions.

Judge Joseph Mangan adjourned the case until September for the preparation of a probation report.
