Man questioned over Fitzgerald murder

Gardaí are quizzing a man in his thirties over the murder of Limerick Bouncer Brian Fitzgerald over a decade ago.

The father of two was gunned down near his home at Brookhaven in Corbally on the Clare Limerick Border in 2002.

Two people have been convicted over the bouncer’s killing.

Brian Fitzgerald, a father of two boys, was head of security at the former Docs nightclub in Limerick.

On the 29th of November 2002 he was shot several times outside his house at Brookhaven Walk, Corbally on the Clare Limerick Border as he returned from work just before four in the morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In 2005 James Martin Cahil confessed and was convicted of his murder- This lead to the trial of four others  including Clare man Anthony Kelly of Cragg House Kilrush – who was subsequently cleared of any involvement in the killing – as were John and Dessie Dundon of Limerick.

The fourth suspect Garry Campion was convicted.

Then this morning – Gardaí arrested a man in his 30’s at his home in the Hyde Road City of Limerick in  connection with the bouncer’s murder

He’s being held at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the offences against the state act
