Man remains critical after Bunratty shooting

A 21 year old man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a gun attack in the car park of a county Clare hotel.

21 year old Robert Sheehan from Moyross in Limerick who was attending a family wedding at the Bunratty Castle Hotel was targeted in the early hours of yesterday morning as he smoked a cigarette in the car park.

The gunmen then fled the scene in a black coloured saloon type car and Clare Gardaí are appealing for any late night workers, or taxi men who noticed anything in the area at the time to contact them.

Two men arrested in Cork in connection with the shooting remain in garda custody.

21 year old Robert Sheenan was one of three teenagers jailed for the arson attack on Gavin and Millie Murray in Limerick in September 2006, while its reported today that he had been targeted in recent months over separate criminal incidents.

However investigating officer – Inspector John Galvin says their investigating all possible motives for the shooting
