A man has been rescued from Lough Derg, after his boat suffered engine failure and ran aground.
The alarm was raised shortly before 5 o’clock yesterday evening, when the 27 foot cruiser became gronded on rocks at Gortmore Point.
Conditions were rough at the time, but after assessing the situation, an RNLI crew member transferred onto the vessel and found the boatman safe and unharmed.

Lifeboat crews then towed the boat into safe water at Terryglass public harbour.
