The former South African President, Nelson Mandela remains in critical condition today after his health deteriorated in the last 24 hours.
The news came last night from a statement from President Jacob Zuma, who has visited the 94 year-old in hospital in Pretoria.

Mr Mandela has been battling a recurrening lung infection and has been in hospital since June 8th.
Mandela, who became South Africa’s first black president in 1994, is due to celebrate his 95th birthday on July 18.
