The Sinn Féin leader is expressing hope of a strong result for her party in Clare in this May’s local elections.
The republican party is fielding five candidates this time out – sitting Shannon councillor Mike McKee and Seán Naughten in Killaloe on the East of the county.
While Donna McGettigan is running in the Ennis Municipal District, Violet-Anne Wynne is seeking a seat in Kilrush and North Clare’s Noeleen Moran has also thrown her hat into the ring.

Councillor McKee and Ms Moran are also General Election candidates next time out and Mary Lou McDonald is confident in her party’s chances in the Banner County:
