The new Clare chairman of the Regional health Forum is calling for a change in the remit of the health watchdog, HIQA.
Kilmaley Councillor Tom McNamara was elected into the role last evening, and says the body shouldn't be allowed to make negative findings against a health service provider without also provide a solution or alternative.

He says his top priority while in the position of Chairperson will be to campaign for Ennis to be declared as a level 3 hospital, which would result in the restoration of an A&E service.
