Ennis Green Councillor Brian Meaney has said he has no aspirations to fill the Seanad seat vacated by his colleague Deirdre de Burca.
The Wicklow Senator resigned from her seat and party last week saying the Greens have abandoned their political values to become an extension of Fianna Fail, but with the government coalition still on track, the Green party is now expected to nominate a replacement in the Seanad.
Brian Meaney has become a high profile member of the Green Party as one of just three County Councillors for the party following their disastrous results in last year’s local elections, though he says he’s not expecting any promotion.
