The government is expected to cut child benefit for the third and subsequent child for families across the country today but it seems many people would prefer if means testing was introduced for children’s allowance.
In an online survey on the clare.fm website, 59% of those polled said means testing would be their preferred way of making savings, though 22% are still hoping the government will leave child benefit untouched.

7% think the payment to all children should be taxed, while 12% are in favour of a cut across the board for child benefit, a move now thought unlikely in the government’s budget speeches this afternoon.
