It’s claimed a professional mediator is being paid 4,000 euro a month to resolve the violent traveller feuds in Ennis.
Ennis Town Council is employing the services of a mediator beleived to have worked in the Northern Ireland Peace Process, following a number of violent incidents among feuding families in the town.
The long running disputes caused local shock after a number of high profile incidents including a public brawl on the Kilrush road in which one man was attacked with a machete and an incident involving a live grenade.
Ennis Town Council hasn’t confirmed the cost of the mediator due to confidential arrangements between the parites concerned but say that generally, it’s relatively small and funded through the Estate Management Programme.
