Fire fighting experts from across the globe gather in South East Clare this morning for the Annual Conference of the Chief Fire Officer Association.
Minister for State Michael Finneran will open the two day event in Meelick which will be addressed by expert speakers in the emergency services and the fire technology industry.
The theme of this year’s conference at the Radisson Blu Hotel is "innovation and the Fire Service- Success in a changing environment.
The event will focus on changes facing the fire service including the economic downturn and the additional roles now being undertaken by fire fighters – such as recent training for water operations
After being addressed by The Mayor of Clare Tony Mulcahy – the minister of state at the department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, will open the Conference.
Among the guest speakers over the two days will be chief fire officers from across the country as well as the UK, fire risk management experts from New Zealand. Ger Dollard- Director of Services at Clare County Council will also address delegates about the county’s own experience in dealing with major emergencies.
