The Health Minister is to hold talks on a new 30-bed unit to help alleviate overcrowding at the Midwest’s overstretched Emergency department.
Minister Leo Varadkar will meet with local TDs next week regarding the interim measure, which would be in place until the new Emergency Department is opened in 2016.

Calls for action in Dooradoyle have increased since June, when a HIQA report found that current facilities at Dooradoyle are not fit for purpose.
INMO MidWest spokesperson Mary Fogarty is hopeful this new unit will make a difference.
