Megan Malone stuns doctors as brain tumour disapears

The parents of toddler Megan Malone  who’s suffering from a rare brain tumour have been told the cancer is gone.

The 3 and a half year old girl who’s father hails from Ennis, underwent life saving treatment in New York after being diagnosed with a rare cancerous brain tumour which had spread to her spine.

Last October Megan was diagnosed with a condition that is so rare only two children in Ireland a year present with it.

The toddler was given a less than 20 percent chance of survival in Ireland where no treatment for her cancer is available.

However her parents were told that if they could get Megan to New York immediately she would at least have a 50/50 chance.

Extensive fund-raising both here in Clare and in Cork  got underway and the Malones moved to New York last December where she was accepted for a specialist programme of treatment.

Its now reported that four months after the treatment , MRI scans reveal the main tumour in Megan’s brain had gone completely, much to the amazement of doctors while the tumours on the little girls spine have almost cleared.

The toddler’s next scan will take place in eight weeks, but the Malones are confident they can return to Ireland in time for her to start play school in September.
