The county had been placed on high alert since yesterday afternoon, and this morning dozens of schools closed after they were advised to do so by the Department of Education and Clare County Council.

Winds gusting up to 120 km/h are still predicted.

The Cliffs of Moher has closed this morning, and there have been power cuts too.

ESB Networks says around 200 people are without power, while crews are already looking to repair faults.
