Mid West Consultant denies closure of Cardiac Services at Ennis General

A leading consultant cardiologist in the Mid West has rubbished claims that he is set to be relocated from Ennis General Hospital to Dooradoyle.

It follows reports that Clare’s County Hospital is set to lose its cardiac unit as part of the HSE plans to centralise acute services to the Mid West Regional hospital in Limerick..

However consultant cardiologist Mr Terry Hennessy has dismissed a move out of Ennis and insists that he’s committed to providing services in the county.

The HSE has also insisted that the future of cardiac services at Ennis General Hospital is secure.

Speaking at a meeting of the Western Regional health Forum, Regional Director of Operations with the HSE West John Hennessy said that there is to be no change to the services currently existing at the hospital.
