Midwives at the region's maternity hospital say today's protest is the first step in their action over what they believes are inadequate staffing levels there.
They took part in a lunchtime protest outside University Maternity Hospital Limerick to highlight a lack of staff caring for some of the sickest babies in the hospital.

The Chief Executive of the UL Hospitals Group is urging midwives and their unions to return to the Labour Relation Commission and says recruitment of staff is underway.
