Mid West Simon has expressed fear that a drop in homelessness figures in this county last month doesn’t spell the beginning of a downward trend.
Latest figures from the Department of Housing show there were 127 children in emergency accommodation in the Mid West last month – down from 173 in November.
But there were 344 people in emergency accommodation in Clare and Limerick in December versus 281 in January of last year.

Tracey Reddy of Mid West Simon has been telling me that a reduction at Christmas time is to be expected – but whether that continues remains to be seen.
