A milestone has been reached in the refugee crisis affecting the EU.
More than one million people have now entered Europe this year, according to figures from the UN refugee agency and International Organisation for Migration.

The vast majority arrived by sea in Greece – half were Syrians, and most others were Afghans and Iraqis.
