The developers of a new private hospital in Ennis are to pay contributions of over 1.3 million euro to Clare County Council before work can commence on the project.
Planning permission for the 100 bed hospital off the Shanaway Road in Ennis has been granted subject to numerous conditions and development contributions.
The developers of the private hospital say the facility will create 500 new jobs
Last week Clare Councillors voted to allow a material contravention of the Ennis Development plan to rezone the land at Woodstock off the Shanaway road to accommodate the private hospital planned by Lisdoonvarna Builder John Stack and Donegal Developer Pat Bonner.
The council’s planning department has now granted permission for the 40 million euro, 5 story development including full medical facilities and car parks.
Builder John Stack has told Clare FM that he hopes to commence work in the New Year but before that, development contributions of over 706 thousand euro must be paid towards the public infrastructure in the area, as well as a special contribution of almost 605 thousand euro to cover the cost of footpaths and a new roundabout at the Shanaway Road junction off the main Ennis to Ennistymon road.
The developers are promising 150 jobs in construction followed by over 400 jobs once the hospital is up and running.
