It’s claimed that Clare and Shannon Airport will benefit indirectly from the visit of President Obama, even though he will not visit the county.
There were hopes that he would follow in the steps of many predecessors and use the Midwest Airport, nonetheless it’s claimed the strong links between Shannon and the US will see Clare benefit by increased tourism in the wake of the visit

Meanwhile, as Barack Obama touches down in Ireland today, Clare County Council has decided to give it’s backing to all future official visits by heads of State.
Ennis Councillor Tony Mulqueen believes the visits of Queen Elizabeth and President Obama are of great benefit to the state.
