It’s feared that millions of euro could have been lost as almost 20 Clare communities have missed out on upgrade works to sewerage schemes under direction of the Department of the Environment.
Clare County Councillors have been informed of 9 schemes, particularly in North and West Clare, which had been included in the Water Services Investment Program 2007 to 2009, but were excluded in the updated program of 2010 to 2012.
The Council had applied for funding for the works, and ‘several’ of them were already ‘well advanced in planning’ – but they were excluded from the program by the Government.
