Plans to create up to 120 jobs in Miltown Malbay are back on track following approval for a new supermarket in the town.
Local Centra owner John Jones has been given the go ahead for a four million euro Supervalu development on the Ennis Road in Miltown Malbay including car parking for 150 cars, an astro turf pitch and a childrens playground.
The plans are revised from a previous application, objected to by other business interests in the town and turned down by An Bord Pleanala, and the developer is hoping to begin construction in the new year providing there are no further objections.
Promising 50 full and part time jobs in the supermarket, and 70 jobs in construction, John Jones told Clare FM he’s still confident the project can boost the economy in Miltown Malbay despite the recession.
