The government’s been accused of stalling on the development of the Crusheen Rail stop as part of an overall plan to halt any further progress on the Western Rail Corridor.
This week the Transport Minister again insisted that construction costs for the North Clare train station must be reduced from the estimated 2.1 million.

This is despite Iranrod Eireann maintaing there’s little scope to reduce the price tag of what it describes as a basic project -but will look at its funding programme for 2014, which pushes a potential opening date back another 1 to 2 years.
