Minister sees “logic” of plan to extend Limerick Boundary

The Environment Minister says the Limerick boundary issue will be brought to a conclusion "one way or another" in the near future.

Speaking during a Dáil debate Minister Phil Hogan said the Brosnan report, which recommends that Shannon Banks and Westbury form part of a single limerick authority, is logical in terms of the future development of Limerick City.

Minister Hogan was responding to Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey – who re-iterated his opposition to the controversial boundary extension proposal.

Minister Hogan says he understands the proposed extension did not enjoy the same degree of support as other parts of the report and that he’ll continue to keep an open mind on the Clare aspect of the issue.
