The Dáil has debated Minister Phil Hogan's plan to give local authorities a greater role in community development, which has already been criticised here in Clare.

Clare County Council has formally called for a re-think, amid fears that money which is currently being funnelled into job creation could be lost in the wider local authority fund.

Clare Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley says Minister Phil Hogan should listen to the views of the local authority.
