It's reported that a surge in emissions from Moneypoint Power Station accounted for almost 90% of Irish Industry's climate-polluting emissions.
Data released by the European Commission shows a 5.3% increase in greenhouse gas emissions in 2015.

Moneypoint emitted 4.5 million tonnes of Carbon Dioxide in last year, out of the 16.8 million tonnes emmitted by Irish Power stations and manufacturing plants, an increase of 20%.
The ESB says the electricity market dictates which power plants run based on cost and as Moneypoint is cheaper to run than some other plants, it was asked to run more in 2015.
