More Gorse Fires In West Clare

Clare fire fighters have spent hours battling a series of gorse fires in parts of the county last evening.

Fire appliances from Ennistymon and Ennis were sent to one fire in the Darragh/Kilmaley area at around 6 o'clock, while a further blaze was reported at nearby Lisroe, Kilmaley last night.

Personnel from Ennis were called to that scene at 11:45, and did not get back to base until 3 a.m.

Meanwhile, units of the fire service from Kilrush and Ennis spent nearly seven hours battling another blaze at Letteragh, Lissycasey until late last night.

There are no reports of damage to property or injuries.

Separately last night, fire-fighters from across Kerry attended another blaze which covered an area of 100 acres near Killarney National Park.

Gardaí in Killarney have conducted investigations, but the cause of that fire has yet to be determined.
