Morning Focus – Wednesday 6th March 2019

Today’s Morning Focus asked whether you would be able to give up the long stretch in the evening, what else Clare have been giving up for lent plus a ten-year tourism plan for Clare and how to live a more positive life.

First up we spoke to Deirdre Clune, Fine Gael MEP for Ireland South about the possibility of ending the clocks going forward and backward during the year. But whiich would you choose – long evenings in the summer or some daylight on winter mornings?

Next up, we heard from all sorts of experts about a new ten-year tourism plan for Clare. There will be workshops across the county aiming to asses the existing tourism product and spreading its benefits. We heard from Leonard Cleary, Director of Rural Development; Niall O’Callaghan, Director of Shannon Heritage and Jennifer Houiellebecq from Team Tourism Consulting about the project. Also, Gavin spoke to Cillian Murphy, independent tourism consultant in Kilkee.

Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of lent. We caught up with some of the people in Ennis to find out what they’re giving up, plus Joanne O’Brien, Director of Youth Ministry was live in studio to talk about youth drop-in prayer initiative for lent.
