Clare’s motor industry has continued to suffer a decline in the first month of 2013.
Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show 413 new car sales have been recorded in the county in January, down from 551 for the same month last year.

This 25% fall is worse than the national average, and comes after 2012 saw Clare’s car dealers record the largest drop in business of any county in Ireland.
Sales of commercial vehicles last month largely held steady in Clare, with 40 light- and heavy goods vehicles registered in the county.
